How to Become a Lead Trader on Midas
Apply to share your trading strategies and receive a profit share from followers who copy your trades.
Becoming a lead trader means other people's money follows your positions, and a profit share is what you earn for it. The requirements exist because a short lucky streak is easy to produce and expensive for followers. Expect to be judged on consistency and drawdown rather than on a single good month.
Before you start
- A verified account meeting the published trading-history requirements.
- A profit-sharing rate you can justify against comparable traders.
- Willingness to be measured publicly, including on the bad months.
Review Requirements
Navigate to Copy Trading > Become a Lead Trader. Requirements include: completed KYC verification, minimum trading history on Midas, consistent profit track record, and agreeing to the lead trader terms. The minimum requirements are designed to ensure quality for followers.
Submit Your Application
Fill in your trader profile: display name, bio, trading strategy description, preferred markets, risk level, and a description of your trading approach. This information is visible to potential followers and should accurately represent your strategy.
Set Your Profit-Sharing Rate
Define the percentage of profits you earn from followers' copied trades. Typical rates range from 10-30%. Lower rates may attract more followers, while higher rates may be justified by exceptional track records.
Build Your Track Record
Once approved, your trading activity becomes visible on the leaderboard. Trade consistently with your described strategy. Your performance metrics (return, drawdown, win rate) update in real time and are the primary factor followers use to evaluate you.
Manage Your Followers
Access the Lead Trader Dashboard to see your follower count, total assets under copy, profit sharing earned, and daily statistics. Engage with your followers through your strategy updates. Consistent, profitable trading builds trust and grows your following over time.
If something goes wrong
- The application was declined.
- The criteria are specific — history length, volume, drawdown. Build the missing one and reapply; resubmitting unchanged will not change the outcome.
- Followers are leaving after a drawdown.
- Normal, and largely outside your control. Consistency and clear communication retain followers better than a recovery trade does.
- Your statistics look worse than your own records.
- Published figures are calculated on the platform's methodology, including drawdown measured peak to trough. It is stricter than most personal spreadsheets.
Frequently asked questions
- How much can I charge?
- Within the platform range. Higher rates need a record that justifies them, or followers pick somebody else.
- When am I paid?
- At the settlement points described in the profit-sharing guide, and only on profit above the high-water mark.
- Can I stop being a lead trader?
- Yes. Followers are notified and their subscriptions end; open positions are handled under the same rules as any unsubscribe.
- Can I trade privately while leading?
- Positions in the lead account are copied and visible in aggregate. Trading you do not want mirrored belongs in a separate account.
