How to Place a Market Order on Midas Spot
Execute an instant buy or sell at the current market price. The fastest way to enter or exit a position.
A market order takes whatever price the book offers right now. It is the fastest way in or out and the one with no price guarantee: on a thin pair, the last part of your order can fill well away from the price you saw. Check the book depth before sending anything large relative to what is resting there.
Before you start
- A funded spot wallet in the quote asset you are buying with, or the base asset you are selling.
- A glance at the order book, so the size you are sending is not larger than the liquidity waiting for it.
Open the Spot Trading Screen
Navigate to the Trade tab and ensure you are on the Spot view. Select the trading pair you want, such as BTC/USDT, by tapping the pair selector at the top of the screen or searching for it.
Select the Buy or Sell Side
Choose 'Buy' if you want to purchase the base asset (e.g., BTC) using your quote asset balance (e.g., USDT). Choose 'Sell' if you want to sell your base asset for the quote asset.
Choose Market Order Type
Tap the order type dropdown and select 'Market'. A market order executes immediately at the best available price in the order book. This is ideal when you prioritize speed over price precision.
Enter the Amount
Type in how much you want to buy or sell. You can enter the amount in the base currency (e.g., 0.1 BTC) or use the percentage slider to allocate 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of your available balance.
Review and Confirm
Review the estimated execution price, the trading fee, and the total cost. Tap 'Buy BTC' or 'Sell BTC' to confirm. The order fills instantly. Your updated balance will reflect in your Spot wallet within seconds.
If something goes wrong
- The fill price is worse than the price on screen.
- That is slippage, not an error. A market order walks the book until it is filled; on a thin pair a limit order at your price is the tool that prevents it.
- The order is rejected for insufficient balance.
- The fee comes out of the same balance, so an order for exactly your holdings leaves nothing for it. Use the percentage buttons, which account for this.
Frequently asked questions
- When is a market order the right choice?
- When being filled matters more than the exact price — a liquid pair, a modest size, or a position you want closed now.
- Can a market order partially fill?
- It fills against whatever is available. On a pair with little depth that can mean a noticeably worse average price for the remainder.
- Which fee applies?
- The taker fee, because a market order removes liquidity from the book. The maker rate applies to resting limit orders instead — see the fee schedule for your tier.
